Pump.fun Reactivates Livestream Feature

Pump.fun, a Solana-based memecoin launchpad platform, has announced the reactivation of its livestream feature after a five-month suspension due to previous controversy.

According to information from Coinvestasi, in an announcement on Friday, April 4, 2025, Pump.fun Co-Founder Alon Cohen stated that the feature is now available to the initial 5% of users, equipped with industry-standard moderation systems and transparent guidelines.

New Moderation System and Guidelines

The updated moderation policy aims to create a social environment that supports creativity and freedom of expression while remaining free from illegal, harmful, or negative content.

Violations of this policy may result in the termination of a user’s livestream and permanent suspension of their Pump.fun account.

Explicitly banned content includes violence, animal abuse, pornography, and harm to children.

However, some parties have expressed concern that the definitions of what constitutes “appropriate” or “inappropriate” content remain ambiguous.

Background of the Livestream Feature Suspension

In November 2024, Pump.fun’s livestream feature was temporarily suspended after the platform was flooded with extreme content from memecoin creators using controversial methods to promote their tokens.

Some users reportedly threatened to commit violence or self-harm if the price of their tokens did not reach a specific target.

At the time, Pump.fun admitted that the platform’s rapid growth had overwhelmed the moderation team, leading to the decision to deactivate the feature until a more mature moderation system could be implemented.

Declining Interest in Memecoins

The decision to reactivate the livestream feature comes amid a general decline in interest in memecoins.

Several popular projects on Pump.fun, such as Libra (LIBRA), have reportedly experienced rug pulls, contributing to the loss of enthusiasm for Solana-based memecoins.

Data from Dune Analytics shows that the success rate of tokens reaching enough market capitalization to be traded on decentralized exchanges (DEX) via Pump.fun has sharply decreased—from a peak of 1.67% to under 1%.

This decline is also reflected in the number of tokens launched, which dropped from around 5,400 tokens per week in January to fewer than 1,500 per week by March.

With the reactivation of the livestream feature and the implementation of a stricter moderation system, Pump.fun hopes to offer a safer and more constructive platform for memecoin creators and investors alike.
