Russian Crypto Businessman Kidnapping Case in Argentina
In late May 2025, two Russian businessmen working in the crypto sector were targeted for kidnapping in the Palermo area of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The perpetrators, who were also Russian citizens, tricked the victims with an invitation to dinner before holding them hostage. They demanded a ransom of US$43,000 in digital assets.
Release Process and Police Action
Based on information we quoted from the Beincrypto media, the victims were rescued in less than a day after one of their colleagues paid the requested ransom.
Luckily, there were no reports of serious injuries to the victims. One of the victims had time to ask for help from the balcony of the apartment where they were being held, which then triggered a quick response from the local police.
Chasing the Perpetrators and the Role of Interpol
After receiving the ransom, the perpetrators fled to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Interpol immediately issued a red notice to speed up the pursuit of the perpetrators who are now outside Argentina.
This case is being handled by Judge María Romilda Servini, who is leading the legal process in Argentina.
